Yearling Futurity

  
Yearling Conformation Class- 2024

This class is for yearlings that were purchased through the Sugar Bars Legacy Sale the previous year and must have changed ownership.  Change of ownership must be documented on official registration papers. Eligibility will follow the horse.  Yearlings registered to immediate family members (children, siblings, parents, grandparents) or person-working for/representing the original owner/consigner will NOT be eligible.  Sugar Bars Legacy Sale yearlings that were “no-saled” or bought back by the original owner/consignor will NOT be eligible. 

1.   Classes:  Open Filly Conformation, Open Colt Conformation (geldings and stallions), Youth Filly Conformation, Youth Colt Conformation- (Youth cannot show stallions.)

2.     Yearlings will be judged on their overall condition, ranch horse or “using” Quarter horse conformation, manners, and ease of travel.  Yearlings will be shown at halter at the walk, trot and set up for inspection. 

3.     AQHA Ownership rules apply, Youth horses must be owned by youth or immediate family members. Youth will be 18 and  under as of January 1, 2024.

4.     Youth contestants must be able to show and handle their horses unassisted.  If they require assistance, points with be deducted.
  
5.     Youth may enter open class, with paid entry.

6.      Entry Fees- The Yearling Halter-Open classes have a $75 per entry fee and there is no fee for the youth class.  Early entries are encouraged.  Please check our website for entry form and payment information. 

7.     Prior to the start of the show, you must present current health & coggins and brand documents

8.     Show expenses are the owner’s responsibility (entry fees, stall fees, health inspection & coggins, brand inspection, etc.


Yearling Confirmation Open Class Payback- $1000.00 purse
The following is the payback explanation.  1st- 40%, 2nd- 30%, 3rd- 20% and 4th- 10%
If there are not enough eligible entries competing in each class to use all the placing’s as outlined in the purse breakdown & entry numbers; the money not used will revert to the Sugar Bars Legacy Sale Futurity.

Yearling In Hand Trail Class- 2024

This is an in-hand trail class for yearlings that were purchased through the previous year Sugar Bars Legacy Sale and must of changed ownership.  Change of ownership must be documented on official registration papers. Eligibility will follow the horse.  Yearlings registered to immediate family members (children, siblings, parents, grandparents) or person-working for/representing the original owner/consigner will NOT be eligible.  Sugar Bars Legacy Sale yearlings that were “no saled” or bought back by the original owner/consignor will NOT be eligible. 
Yearlings will be shown over a variety of basic obstacles, such as bridge, cones, walk and trot over poles, back through, load in trailer, etc.  Patterns will be made available on the website and Facebook page and sent with our yearly letter and entry forms.

1.     Yearling will be judged on overall manners, maneuvers, condition, and willingness of attitude.

2.     Youth must be 18 or younger on January 1, 2024.  AQHA ownership rules apply, colts must be owned by Youth or immediate family members.

3.     Youth must be able to handle and show their horses unassisted.    If they require assistance points will be deducted.
